Whatever the major movements or causes, there's no doubt that green issues have become a part of public thinking in previously unimaginable ways.

Governments are now leading manufacturers to develop new environmentally friendly vehicles. Even such petrol luminaries as Porsche and Ferrari are now wowing motorshow audiences with part-electric vehicles which promise to retain character but cut down on fuel use.

How politicians engage with car manufacturers will directly effect the consumer. And how governments tax consumers will inevitably effect our choice of new car as well as our wider driving habits.
