In Europe, Hyundai's latest commercial model is the iLoad. It was at the end of the Second World War however, when the Imperial Japanese occupation was removed from the Korean peninsula, that a new company was created in what is know known as South Korea. The company was called Hyundai Motor Industrial Company and was founded by Chung Ju-yung. In 1947 he also launched a second company, Hyundai Civil Industries. Through these companies Chung Ju-yung transformed the entire Korean economy. The first Hyundai business built vehicles while the second company concentrated on construction.
Principally a passenger car manufacturer, Hyundai started producing commercial vehicles in the late seventies with the Hyundai Porter also known as the Hyundai H-100. It was a pickup truck that was first launched in January 1977. By November 1986, Hyundai had introduced the second generation Porter, which was a rebadged and licensed Mitsubishi Delica/L300. The third generation of the Porter was launched in March 1996, and this version is still in production.
The Hyundai Libero was a series of light trucks made by Hyundai Motors between 2000 and 2007. They were equipped with a 2.5 litre diesel engine, and came in a multiple body styles, including pickup trucks, flatbeds, and vans.
