Which used Audi Q5 should you buy?
Thanks to its popularity, there are plenty of Audi Q5 models on the used car market, giving you lots if choice. As a high quality and spacious SUV it has more than enough room for a family, including all their stuff in the huge boot.
The current Audi Q5 model went on sale in 2017 and is available exclusively as an automatic. The previous model Audi Q5 came with a manual gearbox, although these are much less common on the second hand market.
The Audi Q5’s engine range is relatively simple with a a 2.0-litre diesel, a 2.0-litre petrol and the TFSI e model, which is a plug-in hybrid. The Audi Q5 petrol is smooth and quiet, so ideal if you're not covering big mileages.
If you want a diesel Audi Q5 you're in luck as these are most popular on the used market and while diesel is out of favour, they still makes a lot of sense for family buyers.
The Audi Q5 plug-in hybrid is more expensive but ideal if you do lots of short journeys. It has a petrol engine and an electric motor, with a battery pack that can be charged up, allowing you to drive on electric power alone for short trips. Charge regularly and carry out mostly short trips and you could complete most of your driving using electricity alone, significantly cutting your fuel bills - and the car's tailpipe emissions.
In terms of paint, a grey Audi Q5 is the most common colour around and in our opinion makes the most of the Audi Q5's smart understated design.
What used Audi Q5 trim levels are available?
The entry-level model is the Audi Q5 Sport which comes well equipped but we'd suggest looking for an Audi Q5 S Line which is by far the most popular model meaning there's plenty of choice on the used market.

Is a used Audi Q5 a good buy?
The Audi Q5 is a popular and practical SUV with an upmarket image, a high-quality interior and plenty of equipment.
One of the Audi Q5’s best aspects is the interior, which uses excellent materials and lots of high-tech features to great effect in making it feel like a very upmarket product. Not every version gets the same level of tech, though, so read on to find out which models include what.
All models use an automatic gearbox as standard and have four-wheel drive. There is also a sleeker Audi Q5 Sportback model, which has a lower rear roofline for a sporty look but less practicality, and the specifications covered below largely apply to that model, too. The high-performance Audi SQ5 is treated as a separate model with a much more powerful engine and its own level of kit.
