Best Ford van finance deals

From the small Fiesta Van to the large Transit, there’s a Ford van to suit businesses of all shapes and sizes - and finance deals to suit

Ford builds some of the most popular vans in Britain. Three out of the top 10 best-selling vans in the country wear a Ford badge, namely the Transit Custom, Transit and Transit Connect. This is not only good news for Ford but good news for you, too, since greater availability of used vans means lower prices and more choice.

It’s not for nothing that the Ford Transit has become known as the ‘backbone of Britain’. Ford’s white vans - other colours are available - have been keeping the wheels of business turning for decades, and whether your business can stretch to a new van, a nearly new model or a used one with plenty of miles under its belt, you should be able to find a Ford van to suit you.

There are many reasons for the success of Ford’s commercial vehicles. Competitive prices, a huge array of choice and low running costs are just three factors. Then there’s the fact that Ford vans tend to be excellent to drive with increasingly car-like cabs.

We’ve pulled together a list of the Ford vans you can find on BuyaCar, along with some typical finance deals to help you decide which van will work for you - and your budget.

Ford van finance deals

1. Ford Fiesta Van

Used deals from £8,058
Monthly finance from £199*

As its name suggests, the Ford Fiesta Van is based on Britain’s most popular car. So while you won’t be using it to transport supersized antique furniture or a wardrobe back from Ikea, it’s a perfect little runabout for urban couriers, security firms or small businesses. It’s also brilliant to drive.

This is especially true if you opt for the Sport Van. The styling is inspired by the Ford Fiesta ST-Line, including 18-inch alloy wheels, a rear spoiler and a sporty body kit. It also features air-conditioning, keyless start and a heated windscreen.

It can handle loads of up to 500kg in weight and 1.3 metres in length, with power sourced from a 1.5-litre 'TDCi' diesel engine or a 1.0-litre 'EcoBoost' petrol engine. Both are punchy and frugal, with a 1.0-litre mild hybrid option added to the range in August 2020. Prices start from around £300 per month for a relatively new 69-plate Fiesta Sport Van or £100 per month if you opt for the earlier model.

2. Ford Transit Courier

Used deals from £9,479
Monthly finance from £204*

From Ford’s smallest van to the smallest member of the Transit family. Although it’s based on the Fiesta platform, it’s significantly larger than the Fiesta Van, making it ideal for drivers in need of a little more carrying capacity.

Early versions had a payload capacity of 660kg, but this was downgraded to 590kg in 2018 - so if you need the maximum lugging capability possible, check the capacity of any individual models you're looking at. All versions can swallow a Euro pallet and loads of up to 1.62 metres in length. A facelift in 2018 extended to the use of more efficient engines, a new six-inch touchscreen media system and styling tweaks.

The current 1.5-litre TDCi diesel and earlier 1.6-litre TDCi diesel engines are perfect for carrying heavy loads, but the 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine is ideal for urban deliveries and anyone concerned about running a diesel van. Pre-2018 models typically cost less than £200 per month, but you’ll spend more for the superior later model. It’s worth the additional expense if you can manage with that lower payload.

3. Ford Transit Connect

Used deals from £10,496
Monthly finance from £253*

The Transit Connect is one of the UK’s best-selling vans and Ford’s most popular commercial vehicle behind the Transit Custom and Transit. While some of its rivals offer a higher payload, the Transit Connect is arguably the best all-rounder.

Introduced in 2013, the Transit Connect was treated to an update in 2018, with the van benefitting from a subtle facelift, revamped cabin and improved engines and transmissions. Just be aware that the payload dropped from 1,000kg to 865kg for the L1 and 833kg for the L2 models.

There are now four versions, including a sporty Transit Connect Sport, which is as good to drive as many passenger cars. Prices typically range from £200 to £300 per month for pre-2018 models, and £300 to £500 per month for a newer van. There’s a small premium for the desirable Sport version.

4. Ford Transit Custom

Used deals from £13,194
Monthly finance from £265*

This is the van most people think of when you mention Ford Transit. It’s the UK’s most popular van by a comfortable margin, with sales of nearly double that of its closest rival. Although it’s been on sale since 2013, a facelift in 2018 and new engines in 2019 mean the Transit Custom is as good today as it’s always been.

There’s a version for everyone, including short and long wheelbases, two heights (H1 and H2), crew cab and a nine-seater Kombi. There’s a long list of standard equipment across the range, including an impressive array of safety kit. It even has a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating to its name.

Many of the used Transit Custom models on BuyaCar are powered by a punchy and efficient 2.2-litre TDCi diesel engine. This was replaced by an even more efficient 2.0-litre EcoBlue diesel in 2019. There’s also a plug-in hybrid model, which offers extremely low running costs. With monthly payments typically ranging from £200 per month upwards, there’s a Transit Custom to suit all budgets.

5. Ford Tourneo Custom

Used deals from £17,995
Monthly finance from £353*

The Ford Tourneo Custom is a practical and spacious alternative to an MPV. It’s the passenger version of the Transit Custom, with seating for up to nine people, making it a rival to the likes of the Mercedes V-Class and Volkswagen Caravelle.

Although it’s popular within private hire and airport taxi circles, it feels surprisingly upmarket for a minibus. The passenger area is carpeted throughout, while all seats are comfortable and supportive, even on long journeys. The Titanium trim feels especially plush.

The 2.2-litre TDCi diesel engine is available with a choice of outputs. You'll want to opt for one of the most powerful versions if you spend a lot of time with all seats occupied. Fuel economy of 43mpg is excellent for a vehicle of this size. This engine was replaced with a 2.0-litre EcoBlue diesel in 2017.

6. Ford Transit

Used deals from £16,490
Monthly finance from £353*

The Ford Transit is the UK’s second most popular large van behind the Mercedes Sprinter. The current version arrived in 2014, but a comprehensive facelift in 2019, followed by more updates in 2020, ensure the Transit stays ahead of the game.

If the naming structure is a little confusing, it’s worth remembering that the Transit Custom is a one-tonne van, while the larger Transit is the two-tonne load-lugger. There are hundreds of different variants, including three lengths and two heights. If you can’t find a Transit that’s right for you, you’re probably not looking hard enough.

Models registered since the 2019 facelift are better looking and come with the latest technology. There’s also an improved cab and, since 2020, a five-tonne variant. Prices start at around £250 per month for a 2015 version.

7. Ford Ranger

Used deals from £15,495
Monthly finance from £305*

Although the Ford Ranger has been on sale for nearly a decade, it remains one of the best pick-ups you can buy. An ability to tow up to 3,500kg means it’s as popular in commercial circles as it is in farming and equestrian communities.

The Ranger was facelifted in 2016, but the big development came in 2019, when new 2.0-litre EcoBlue diesel engines were added to the range. The old 2.2-litre diesel engine was discontinued, although the 3.2-litre diesel lived on until May 2020 in the Wildtrak.

Single cab versions can carry 1,269kg, but this drops to 1,100kg in double cab models, so bear that in mind if you need to carry lots in the way of weight but not many passengers. Fitting a hardtop canopy to a Ranger transforms it into a rugged and practical alternative to an SUV, so it makes a desirable machine for play as well as work if you don't just want a drab vehicle for work duties.
