Best used cars in stock

1. Mercedes-Benz A-Class

In stock Mercedes-Benz A180d Sport Premium
Price £15,600
Monthly finance £188

Want an expensive looking A-Class without the expense of steep fuel bills? The economical A180d is the most economical version of what is a very popular upmarket hatchback. This particular model in stock is also equipped with a seven-speed automatic gearbox, so it should prove particularly relaxing car to drive as well.

Making this A-Class more desirable, it will arrive on your doorstep decked out with the Premium pack, which includes a pair of 10.3-inch touchscreens - meaning larger digital displays for both the media system and the dials - plus an upgraded sound system, active parking assist and heated front seats.

For a car that would have cost more than £30,000 new, this car comes in at around about half that price with only 8,000 miles of use, saving you around £2 per mile.

2. Citroen Grand C4 Picasso

In stock Citroen Grand C4 Picasso 1.6 BlueHDi Exclusive+ EAT 6
Price £12,495
Monthly finance £188

If you need something more sensible and spacious, how about this 2016 Citroen Grand C4 Picasso? Although the Picasso was replaced by the SpaceTourer in 2018, no one will know you have the old version - the main difference here is the name. Even the cars' dimensions are the same – so even though you can't buy a Picasso new any more, this is still a perfectly up-to-date car.

It’s affordable too, especially thanks to its frugal diesel engine combined with an automatic gearbox - you shouldn’t struggle to reach 50mpg – and considering it has a relatively low mileage for a car of this age, this is definitely worth a look if you need a spacious MPV with seven seats.

3. Mitsubishi Outlander

In stock Mitsubishi Outlander DI-D 3
Price £16,495
Monthly finance £260

Perhaps you need something a little more rugged? Well the Mitsubishi Outlander would be a strong choice regardless, but throw in the fact that this one is up for grabs for only £16,495 and you’re onto a serious bargain.

SUVs like the Outlander normally fetch a much higher price - since tough-looking crossovers are hugely popular right now - yet they are often less capable of tackling serious off-road terrain than you think. This 4x4 definitely isn't though, so you’ll be getting an awful lot of car for your money with this one.

This particular model comes with a strong 2.2-litre diesel engine that underlines the Outlander’s qualities, and thanks to its low mileage, should be a safe bet for years to come.

4. BMW 5 Series

In stock BMW 520d xDrive M Sport
Price £24,990
Monthly finance £322

If you're after something upmarket, comfortable and equally at home on country roads or the motorway, this BMW 520d covers all the bases - complete with four-wheel drive, so it shouldn't leave you stuck when the snow falls. Another very economical version of a popular car - with a powerful but frugal diesel engine under the bonnet - this particular model comes in desirable M Sport trim with xDrive four-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

Although this may be the least powerful engine in the 5 Series range, the 520d remains hugely popular among consumers thanks to its excellent fuel economy – and as 0-62mph takes just 7.5 seconds it’s hardly slow either. The xDrive system will reduce fuel economy slightly as it powers all four wheels, but an official figure of 68mpg is still pretty impressive.

All in, a 2017 BMW 5 Series with less than 20,000 miles for only £322 per month makes a lot of sense.

5. Audi A6 Saloon

In stock Audi A6 Saloon 40 TDI S Line S Tronic
Price £26,999
Monthly finance £335

The latest Audi A6 Saloon has not been on the market for that long, so to find one at this kind of price with such low mileage is not easily done. There are a handful on BuyaCar, but only this one is ready to be delivered to your door today.

It’s another automatic diesel and one that should prove just as relaxing and economical to drive as the BMW above. Not to mention you’ll be getting a very upmarket car with a lot of very upmarket tech for a not-so-upmarket price.

6. Audi A3 Cabriolet

In stock Audi A3 Cabriolet 1.4 TFSI Sport
Price £16,500
Monthly finance £228

Winter is a great time to get a good deal on a convertible, as many other drivers are shopping for SUVs and few looking for stylish cabriolets. The Audi A3 Cabriolet takes the good bits from the standard A3 hatchback and makes it all more stylish by giving it a soft top.

Don't think this is just a car for summer, though. Unlike older convertibles, the A3 is quiet and cosy on the move - you really don't have to worry about getting cold in the winter months, and it's just as comfortable as the ordinary hatchback it's based upon.

The soft-top is well insulated and can be folded down or raised at speeds of up to 31mph, so even if you are caught in the rain - or even the snow, for that matter - you’ll have things under control.

7. Lexus CT

In stock Lexus CT 1.8 200h SE CVT
Price £17,500
Monthly finance £236

Want a relatively compact, strong value hatchback, but with the addition of hybrid power for silent town cruising? Look no further than the Lexus CT. It may have been on the market for a while now, so the interior isn't the most high-tech, but the hybrid petrol-electric tech under the bonnet is. Not only is the CT cheap to run, with the prospect of very low petrol bills around town, but this one is cheap to buy in the first place, too.

More than just offering a very efficient hybrid engine, the CT is backed up by Lexus’ impeccable reliability record. It’s by no means the most exciting car on this list, but it will bring you stress-free motoring – with less than 10,000 miles on the clock - for less than £250 per month.
