Two in three drivers would consider buying an electric car, according to BuyaCar research, and there are a flood of new vehicles to consider: by the end of next year at least 25 different electric cars will be on sale.

But the extra choice brings a new problem: how to work out if the Mini Electric Vehicle, Mercedes EQC, Audi e-tron or Jaguar I-Pace are any good - or if they'll fit with your lifestyle?

According to the creators of the new drivingelectric.com website, most drivers don't have the information they need to make an informed decision, creating a real need for straightforward, honest advice.

The drivingelectric.com site is owned by the same company as BuyaCar and fills that demand with how-to articles, news, and electric and hybrid car reviews, with a focus on providing readers with no-nonsense, clear articles on the reality of choosing, buying and owning an electric car.

The market is continuing to grow, with sales of new electric and hybrid cars up by 3.9% on last year. BuyaCar has also seen a large increase in searches for used electric cars, which almost tripled in September, compared with the same month last year.

The new site will include reviews of every electric and hybrid car on the market, as well as explainer style videos aimed at answering some of the myths associated with electric cars.

"All the research and industry trends point to a market explosion for electric, hybrid and plug-in hybrid models. But our research points to a real gap in buyers’ knowledge, too," says Editor-in-chief of drivingelectric.com, Steve Fowler. "Now is the perfect time to fill that gap with drivingelectric.com, providing clear, concise and jargon-free content on our website and across a range of social media channels, including YouTube."
