The Honda Civic is a popular family car that’s around the same size, shape and price as the Volkswagen Golf and Ford Focus. It’s an alternative to these well-known models and offers lots of space, an enjoyable driving experience and good reliability.

The Civic has unusual and distinctive styling, but underneath the angled bodywork it’s actually a rather sensible choice. There’s lots of space for passengers, a big boot and it’s likely to be dependable and reliable.

It’s available in various trim levels, which we’ll go through in detail below, and there are 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre petrol engines with either a manual or automatic gearbox. If you’re buying a model that’s a bit older, there was previously also a diesel model available as well, which works well for long trips, as it’s really economical.

Additionally, there’s a version called the Civic Type R, which is one of the best handling and fastest hot hatchbacks ever made. It’s a brilliant car, but rather different from other versions of the Honda and is aimed at driving enthusiasts.

Yet all versions of the Civic are fun to drive and comfortable over bumpy roads. It’s a really impressive all-rounder and prices are affordable, so the Honda comes highly recommended for all kinds of drivers. Our only reservations with this impressive model are with the slow, clunky media system and the slightly dated-looking interior.

Read on for all the top Honda Civic deals and offers, plus what comes with each model to help you pick the best one for you.

Honda Civic SE deals

The entry-level Honda Civic SE is only available with a 1.0-litre petrol engine from new, and costs around £23,000 from a dealer - but when buying a used or nearly new model with BuyaCar, you can get one much cheaper than that.

The SE model comes with 16-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, automatic high beam headlights, fabric upholstery, hill-start assist, autonomous emergency braking, braking assist tech, lane departure warning and lane-keeping assist.

It’s also fitted with climate control, parking sensors and a five-inch media system with a digital radio, Bluetooth and USB connectivity.

Honda Civic SR deals

The Honda Civic SR is a good value mid-specification model that costs from around £24,000 when new - it’s the best value model and one we recommend. Plus, you can get it much cheaper than that by choosing a second-hand one.

The SR version comes with everything found on the SE version plus 17-inch alloy wheels, front fog lights, tinted windows, ambient lighting, a leather steering wheel and automatic windscreen wipers.

It also comes with dual-zone climate control, a reversing camera, two USB ports and a seven-inch media system with a touchscreen interface, sat-nav, internet features and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Honda Civic Sport deals

The Honda Civic Sport is a mid-spec model that has almost exactly the same equipment as the SR model above, but is only available with the 1.5-litre petrol engine, so it’s a bit faster. The Sport model costs around £25,500 when new.

It adds to the SR trim with a different exhaust, different alloy wheels, a sportier-looking body kit and headlight washers.

Honda Civic EX deals

The Honda Civic EX is the top-spec version of the Civic apart from the high-performance Type R below. It costs from about £27,000 when new.

The EX version adds to the equipment on SR versions by coming with blind-spot monitoring, keyless entry, leather upholstery, electrically-operated front seats and heated seats in the front and rear.

It also includes extra speakers and a subwoofer, wireless phone charging, a panoramic sunroof and headlight washers. In addition, you get adaptive suspension, which means you can press a button to make the car feel more sporty on twisty roads, then switch back to comfort mode for bumpy ones.

Honda Civic Type R deals

The Honda Civic Type R is the most expensive version of this family car, as it comes with unique suspension, wheels and tyres plus a very powerful 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine. It has stunning performance, is a delight to drive and is highly sought-after by enthusiasts, so even though it’s no longer available new, it’s more expensive than high-spec versions of the normal Civic.

The Type R gets all the equipment available in the Civic range above, minus the heated seats because the shapely sports seats fitted to this more focused model don’t have this function.
