The BMW X5 is a large, upmarket SUV that’s a similar size and price to the Porsche Cayenne, Range Rover Sport and Volvo XC90, as well as the Audi Q7. In this article we’ll find round up some of the best BMW X5 deals on BuyaCar as well as help you work out which model is best for you, with a closer look at the equipment that comes with each specification.

The BMW X5 is one of the top choices if you want a large premium SUV, because it is such a good all-rounder. It’s not only one of the most comfortable cars of its type, it’s also good to drive, spacious, economical enough and quiet on the motorway.

The engine range is excellent, as the diesel options are powerful and reasonably economical, and the petrol engine is punchy and smooth. There’s a plug-in hybrid option for those who spend lots of time around town, which lets you plug in and drive on electric power only for up to around 30 miles.

There’s an upmarket-feeling interior with high-quality materials and plenty of in-car technology, including sat-nav, which is standard on all models. It’s spacious inside and the boot is huge, plus there’s an option to have two extra seats in the back that can fold away when you’re not using them. This turns the X5 into a seven-seater.

Although there are no alternative body styles for the BMW X5, there is the closely related BMW X6 with a much more sloping roofline at the rear, and it uses similar mechanical parts. The BMW X5 M Competition is another variant but this is considered as a separate model.

Here you’ll find the best nearly new and used BMW X5 deals and offers on BuyaCar, as well as all the info you need to help you choose which model to buy.

BMW X5 xLine deals

The entry-level BMW X5 is the xLine model, and while it costs from £62,000 when new in diesel form, you can save a bundle by getting a nearly new or used model from BuyaCar.

There are just four engines available for the X5 in this trim level, and all are six-cylinder motors that use an automatic gearbox only and four-wheel drive. The range starts with the xDrive30d diesel, then there’s the xDrive40d, the xDrive40i petrol and then the xDrive45e plug-in hybrid petrol.

The xLine model comes with 19-inch alloy wheels as standard, plus adaptive LED headlights, a chrome grille, aluminium exterior trim pieces and adaptive air suspension that can be adjusted by the driver to be more comfortable or firmer (for better handling) using a switch in the cabin.

On the inside you can find leather seats, a slick media system on the dash with sat-nav including online services and traffic information, a reversing camera, digital radio, heated seats, ambient lighting, wireless phone charging, a WiFi hotspot and Bluetooth connectivity.

BMW X5 M Sport deals

If you move up to the BMW X5 M Sport then you’ll pay extra when new (these cost from around £66,000) but when choosing a used or nearly new model from BuyaCar you could save plenty, as this is a popular model and that means there's loads of choice when it comes to choosing your next car.

It comes with 20-inch alloy wheels, bigger brakes, sportier bodystyling including different bumpers, dark interior headlining, black roof rails and some other sporty-looking trim pieces. This is mostly a cosmetic upgrade of the xLine model as M Sport has mostly the same technology and equipment inside.

BMW X5 M50i deals

I you're after a powerful engine in the BMW X5, then you could consider the BMW X5 M50i, which has its own trim level above the previous two.

The M50i model uses a 4.4-litre petrol engine with a substantial 530hp, so it can go from 0-62mph in just 4.3 seconds, making it seriously quick. It’s expensive, at £80,000 when new, but these models lose value quickly as they get old, so can make a far better used buy than new.

Aside from the engine, the M50i model has 22-inch alloy wheels, but most of the other equipment is the same as on the M Sport version above. There’s an upgraded Harman/Kardon stereo system and a grey grille on this model too, as well as some unique options such as special adaptive suspension tuned for sporty handling rather than comfort, to go with the powerful engine.
