The Jaguar F-Pace is a stylish and practical SUV that rivals cars like the BMW X4, Mercedes-Benz GLC, Porsche Macan and Alfa Romeo Stelvio. If you’re looking for a great deal on a used Jaguar F-Pace, read on to discover more about the different trim levels and the best offers available.

There are two reasons why you might choose an F-Pace over any of its rivals: the way it looks and the way it drives. Jaguar has successfully managed to use the styling of its sports cars and saloons to create one of the best looking cars of this type.

It’s also extremely good to drive, with a range of smooth and powerful engines, along with sharp and composed handling. This is especially true if you opt for the range-topping high-performance SVR model, which is powered by a 550hp V8 engine.

Jaguar hasn’t forgotten that a family SUV needs to be practical. Its 613-litre boot is big enough to rival larger and more expensive SUVs, while only the tallest of rear-seat passengers will complain about the amount of space in the back.

Launched in 2016 with a range of petrol and diesel engines, the Jaguar F-Pace was updated in 2020. All post-2020 engines except the entry-level 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine feature mild hybrid technology for improved efficiency, while a new plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variant offers an electric range of up to 33 miles per charge.

Which engine you should choose depends on your circumstances. All new versions are four-wheel drive (rear-wheel drive was available on older models) and come with an eight-speed automatic gearbox, so you get a terrific blend of all-weather reassurance and relaxed comfort.

The 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines offer reasonable performance, but the larger six-cylinder units are preferable if you’re prepared to stretch the budget, as these offer greater punch and refinement. The F-Pace SVR is the one to choose if you really fancy a serious sports car but have children and dog to take along for the ride. Alternatively, the F-Pace PHEV blends performance and efficiency, but it will be a while before used prices drop to a particularly affordable level.

If the Jaguar F-Pace is the SUV for you, read on for the best deals on the standard, R-Dynamic and SVR models, along with details of the S, SE and HSE trim packs.

Best Jaguar F-Pace deals

Before you choose a trim level, you have to select one of two models: F-Pace or F-Pace R-Dynamic. It’s a little like ordering a starter and a main course at a fancy restaurant.

The standard F-Pace is a regular SUV without any added spice. Prices start from around £40,000, which is something to bear in mind when it comes to taxing a Jaguar F-Pace. All current models incur the premium rate of Vehicle Excise Duty (VED) - more commonly known as road tax - which means there’s an additional £335 to pay on top of the standard rate for five years from year two.

Upgrading to an R-Dynamic model costs around £2,600 when the F-Pace is new. The result is a sportier appearance, with a package comprising R-Dynamic cosmetic upgrades, 19-inch alloy wheels, a R-Dynamic-branded leather steering wheel, perforated grained leather seats and metal treadplates. R-Dynamic models also feature 12-way electric front seats and an electric tailgate.

The SVR feels more like a bespoke model than a trim level. It’s a Jaguar F-Pace coated in hot sauce, with power sourced from a fire-breathing 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine producing 550hp. It’ll hit a top speed of 178mph and sprint from zero to 62mph quicker than many sports cars.

There are no trim levels with the F-Pace SVR, so it’s a case of what you see is what you get - unless you fancy some optional extras. Highlights include 21-inch alloy wheels, a switchable active exhaust system, larger brakes, heated and cooled leather seats and headlight washers. It costs nearly £78,000 when new and has the high running costs to match.

Jaguar F-Pace S deals (including R-Dynamic S)

Once you’ve chosen your flavour, it’s time to add a few trimmings. The level of standard equipment is excellent, especially following the update in 2020. All models come with LED headlights, LED rear lights, a heated windscreen, dual-zone climate control, eight-way electric front seat adjustment and an 11.4-inch touchscreen media system.

A digital radio, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, hill start assist, 40:20:40-split folding rear seats, a suite of driver assistance systems and voice control are also standard across the range. If you're looking at older models, you'll want to check what's featured on specific cars you're looking at, though, as there have been a number of specification changes since the SUV was introduced in 2016.

Previously, there was a basic F-Pace without a trim level and with only one engine option - a 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine. It’s not a popular choice, not least because it costs just £1,000 to upgrade to S trim, which includes lots of extras.

There’s no real need to look beyond the S model if you're on a budget. This package includes 19-inch alloy wheels, an electric tailgate, leather seats, 3D surround camera, front and rear parking sensors, cruise control and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror. R-Dynamic versions feature black rather than black and silver alloy wheels.

Jaguar F-Pace SE deals (including R-Dynamic SE)

Moving up to the SE trim adds between £3,000 and £3,500 to the price with new models, so the most affordable version when new costs £45,000. This mid-range model is one of the F-Pace sweet spots, with the F-Pace SE offering the best blend of price and equipment.

Highlights include automatic high beam, animated direction indicators, 20-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry, a digital instrument panel, electrically adjustable steering column, 16-way electric adjustment for the front seats, rear traffic monitor, blind-spot assist and clear exit monitor. These are in addition to the S trim kit.

Jaguar F-Pace HSE deals (including R-Dynamic HSE)

With the exception of the 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine, the HSE trim is available across the core range. You’ll pay at least £53,000 for an F-Pace HSE when new, though you should be able to find substantial savings on this price with a nearly new or used model on BuyaCar.

It’s a fitting range-topper, with the F-Pace HSE feeling every inch the luxury SUV the price tag would suggest. The alloy wheels are even larger, with the 21-inch rims doing a great job of filling the wheel arches. The ride quality suffers a little, but many drivers prefer the sportier feel.

The Meridian premium audio system that comes with HSE spec sounds great, while the heated and cooled leather seats will keep you warm or chilled, depending on your preference. There’s also a rear collision monitor to keep you safe.
