Best used 2017-present Hyundai Kona PCP finance deals

The Hyundai Kona is one of the most striking compact SUVs but costs well over £20,000 new. Go used, though, and it's far more affordable

The Hyundai Kona is a practical and great value rival to compact SUVs like the Kia Stonic, Nissan Juke, Renault Captur and Citroen C3 Aircross. If you’re after the best second-hand Hyundai Kona deals, read on to discover more about each trim level and the offers currently available.

There’s very little to choose between the array of compact SUVs available in the UK, so why should you opt for the Hyundai Kona? The bold styling is one reason, as is Hyundai’s excellent five-year unlimited mileage warranty. This means that even if you go for a two-year-old model, you'll get just as much manufacturers' warranty as with most new cars.

A wide range of engines and gearboxes is another factor. Although the diesel version was discontinued in 2019 you can still get these used and it was replaced by an excellent hybrid model with the promise of a diesel-rivalling 56.5mpg fuel economy figure. There’s also an electric Kona, which now offers up to 300 miles of range from a single charge.

Standard safety kit on all new Hyundai Kona models includes multiple airbags, lane-keep assist, forward collision avoidance with pedestrian detection, hill-start assist and an emergency call function in the event of a collision.

If the Hyundai Kona sounds like the compact SUV for you, read on for the best used deals on the S, SE, SE Connect, Premium, Iron Man, N Line and Ultimate trim levels. These are some of the most popular versions on BuyaCar, with prices starting from £12,950 or £0 per month.

Remember, all used Konas are covered by a five-year warranty, so even three- or four-year old examples will be covered by a decent amount of the original manufacturer’s warranty.

Hyundai Kona S deals

The original entry-level Hyundai Kona S wasn’t particularly popular as many drivers fancied a car with more kit. It was no surprise when Hyundai decided to discontinue the Kona S, therefore, but it’s possible to find a few on BuyaCar. If you're on a really tight budget it could be a good choice, but you'll get more feel-good factor by going for a higher trim level.

Highlights include 16-inch alloy wheels, cloth seats with height adjustment for the driver, 60/40 split-folding rear seats, air-conditioning with vents for rear-seat passengers, cruise control, electric front and rear windows, a digital radio, Bluetooth, USB port and a small five-inch LCD display on the dashboard.

Most examples of the Kona are powered by a 1.0-litre petrol engine, which offers a terrific blend of performance and economy. Mild hybrid technology was added as part of the 2021 update, so you can expect a small boost in fuel economy for the latest models.

Hyundai Kona SE deals

The SE was the second rung on the Kona trim level ladder. Many buyers chose to upgrade from S trim for the additional equipment and the improved styling. Highlights of the Kona SE include 17-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, fog lights, a leather steering wheel and electric driver’s seat lumbar support.

When it comes to useful tech, you also get handy rear parking sensors plus a reversing camera, along with a seven-inch touchscreen media system, complete with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

With the S and SE models discontinued, this is the most affordable new Hyundai Kona you can get. Prices start from around £21,000 and power is sourced from a 1.0-litre 'T-GDi' mild hybrid petrol engine.

The list of equipment includes 17-inch alloy wheels, a leather steering wheel, air-conditioning, automatic headlights, cruise control, rear parking sensors, a reversing camera, a 10.3-inch digital instrument display, digital radio, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Hyundai Kona Premium (and Premium SE) deals

Premium by name, Premium by nature. Actually, that’s not entirely true, because Premium is currently one of the mid-range trim levels for the Kona, with a starting price for new models of around £24,000 upwards, so it offers decent value.

Premium adds an impressive array of equipment to the SE Connect package, including 18-inch alloy wheels, heated front seats, an automatic dimming rear-view mirror, front fog lights, LED rear lights, solar glass, electric parking brake, heated steering wheel, front parking sensors, keyless entry and go, front and rear USB ports, wireless phone charging and an eight-speaker premium audio system.

The Premium trim available from 2017 is broadly similar, but is likely to come with an eight-inch touchscreen media system with sat-nav. Also look out for the old Premium SE, which boasts leather-trimmed seats, electric adjustment, heating and ventilation for the front seats and a head-up display for the driver. The current Premium model is like a blend of the old Premium and Premium SE models.

Hyundai Kona Premium GT deals

This was the most lavish Hyundai Kona you could get prior to the arrival of the Ultimate edition. It's worth paying a little extra per month for the Kona Premium GT if you like the idea of having loads of features.

It cost £25,000 when new, but you’ll save money when buying used. Highlights include full LED headlights with high beam assist and cornering function, LED rear lights, a 4.2-inch digital instrument cluster and a Safety Pack. This features autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection.

The GT part of the name is emphasised by a 1.6-litre 'T-GDi' petrol engine, which offers a good dose more power than the smaller 1.0-litre petrol and four-wheel drive. This combination delivers greater performance and superior all-weather reassurance on slippery roads.

Hyundai Kona Iron Man Edition deals

If Tony Stark was the kind of superhero who worried about long warranties and value for money, he’d almost certainly get the Kona Iron Man Edition. It’s even more distinctive than the standard Kona, thanks to matte grey exterior paint, red roof and exterior accents, custom daytime running lights, plus a V-shape bonnet bezel with the Marvel logo.

Inside, this special edition features a unique Iron Man gear shifter, head-up display, 4.2-inch digital instrument panel and an eight-inch touchscreen media system.

That’s not all, because you also get 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, Marvel door spotlights, Tony Stark’s signature on the dashboard, plus Stark details on the leather seats. It cost around £28,000 when new, but you could save many thousands of pounds when buying used.

Hyundai Kona N Line deals

The N Line trim is new for 2021. Inspired by the Hyundai i30 N high-performance hatchback, the Kona N Line is the sportiest model in the range, with more aggressive styling and specific diamond-cut alloy wheels.

The rugged skid plate of the other models is replaced by an N-style aerodynamic lip, while a larger air intake and mesh details complete the exterior makeover. The interior is available with a dedicated N Line colour package in one-tone black, with cloth, leather or suede seats.

It’s less about premium upgrades and more about a sportier appearance, so the N Line is the ideal Kona if you’re looking to make a statement on the school run but don't care so much for having all the latest in-car kit.

Hyundai Kona Ultimate deals

Short of opting for the Kona Hybrid or Kona Electric, the Ultimate is the most expensive Hyundai Kona you can buy. It costs £26,000 when new, but you’ll save plenty by opting for a used or nearly new example.

You won’t have to spend too long perusing the options catalogue, because the Kona Ultimate features 18-inch alloy wheels, electric adjustment, heating and ventilation for the driver and passenger seats, climate control, LED headlights, an electric slide and tilt sunroof, rear centre armrest, head-up display and a suite of safety systems that are optional on the other models.

It’s like the old Premium GT model, albeit with power sourced from a 1.0-litre mild hybrid petrol engine.
