What is BuyaCar?
Since 2002 buyacar has been the pioneer of digital motor retail, with tens of thousands of happy customers benefitting from a seamless online car buying experience. In 2023, BuyaCar joined the heycar family of car buying websites, bringing choice and convenience to the used car marketplace.
How does BuyaCar work?
BuyaCar has partnered with heycar to provide 24371 used cars, all of which are less than eight years old and have covered less than 100,000 miles. When you search for a car, we match you with used, nearly new and pre-registered models at a low price.
BuyaCar lists tens of thousands of used cars, with a wide range of models that you can order online and have delivered to your door plus a huge array of others that are available to purchase and collect from the dealer.
You can take your pick from all sorts of brands, fuel types and body styles, giving you a huge amount of choice, all without having to leave your home. With so much choice, you can select your favourite car from the best value models in the country.

Do all the cars have a warranty?
Yes. Pre-registered cars and nearly new models come with the vast majority of the manufacturer’s warranty, including roadside assistance and any other standard features. Other cars come with the balance of any remaining manufacturer’s warranty. If this no longer applies, all cars should come with a minimum of a 30-day warranty.
Do the cars have a money-back guarantee?
Yes. If you're not happy with a car you've purchased online and had delivered, we offer the reassurance of a 10-day money-back guarantee, which enables you to get a full refund.
What does 'quality checked' mean?
Our quality checks assess cars from top to bottom and are carried out by skilled dealership technicians. A large proportion of our dealers abide by the manufacturer's approved used car standards while others may use the AA's 128-point vehicle checks.
Is it safe to buy a car without seeing it?
Yes, and thousands of happy customers think so too. We only list cars from trusted dealers and every used car comes with a warranty for added peace of mind. Besides the warranty, you’ll have 10 days from delivery of the car to return it and get your money back if you decide not to keep it (see heycar's FAQ page for more details).
How do I pay for my car?
Your car can be reserved with a small deposit. Most people finance the rest of the cost with Hire Purchase (HP) or Personal Contract Purchase (PCP). If you’re paying the whole amount in cash, this is even easier. If you pay your deposit with a credit card, the whole purchase will be protected under the Consumer Credit Act.
How do the finance options work?
Flexible finance options are available, so you should be able to find a format that suits your circumstances. Firstly, you decide the size of deposit that you can afford; the larger your deposit, the lower your monthly payments.
If you opt for Hire Purchase, the total remaining cost of the car will then be split into monthly payments. The longer the contract, the lower the instalments, though the more interest you'll pay. Once you've made all the payments, the car is yours. PCP finance has lower monthly payments as these only cover part of the car's cost - the amount it's expected to lose during the contract.
At the end of a PCP finance contract, you can either choose to pay the outstanding balance (known as the optional final payment) and keep the car or hand the keys back and walk away with nothing else to pay (provided you've stuck to the pre-agreed mileage limit and not caused any damage beyond fair wear and tear.
You’ll need to know more before deciding upon a finance setup. All lenders should provide you with contract details and full terms and conditions before you sign on the dotted line.
Can I end my finance early?
Yes. You should be able to return your vehicle to the finance company early with PCP finance or Hire Purchase. Depending on the car's value and the outstanding balance, you may be required to pay a settlement fee. The exact terms and conditions van vary depending upon the lender, so it's important to understand the terms of any finance contract you sign.
Can I arrange my own finance?
Yes. If you want to take out a loan to pay for your car, the lender will put the money into your account and you’ll effectively be able to make a cash purchase.
What documents will I need?
To buy a car outright, you typically won't need to produce any documents. You will have to arrange insurance and vehicle tax before driving any new car, though. The car seller should provide the necessary details for you to do this.
For finance, you’ll typically need to provide a copy of your UK driving licence or another proof of address; a second proof of address, such as a recent utility bill or bank statement; and a second proof of signature, such as a copy of your passport or debit card.
How will my car be delivered?
Used cars purchased on BuyaCar come with driven delivery to addresses in England, Wales and Scotland. If you'd prefer to have the car delivered to you on the back of a lorry, this may also be possible.
Are there any fees to use BuyaCar?
No. We have partnered with heycar to enable you to search through tens of thousands of cars online that you can collect from the dealer yourself or have delivered to your door. However, we don’t have a shiny showroom to maintain and don’t offer you free coffee, which means no extra charges.
