There isn't a vast choice when it comes to selecting the best engine for your Range Rover Evoque Convertible but it is worth considering the sort of life your new car is likely to lead.

The Si4 petrol is by far the best for those wanting the fastest performance, as it produces 240 horsepower and manages to complete the 0-62mph sprint in just 8.6 seconds.

The diesel engine is incredibly smooth and quiet. It’s more efficient than the petrol engine but not as powerful. You don’t notice a big difference because the diesel engine has plenty of urge without having to rev it hard. However, when the convertible hood is lowered, there's no escaping the gentle rattling sound of a diesel. 

HSE Dynamic and HSE Dynamic LUX

The Evoque Convertible is designed to sit at the very pinnacle of the range, so even 'basic' HSE Dynamic models come very well equipped. Expect to find the latest technology, including a rear-view camera for easier parking manoeuvres, configurable interior mood lighting and Land Rover's new 10.2-inch touch screen infotainment system.

The unit boasts the latest InControl apps, which allow for seamless smartphone tethering, as well as InControl Touch Pro Navigation, which is clear, easy to use and ultra-precise - a far cry from the clunky Jaguar Land Rover units of old.

Further standard niceties include razor sharp Xenon headlights, 20-inch alloy wheels, a heated front screen and full leather seats, which also benefit from 12-way heating - a must for anyone thinking of dropping the top in the colder months.

Step up to HSE Dynamic LUX and Land Rover will throw in Full Park Assist, which uses autonomous driving systems to park the car with minimal input from the driver. A Surround Camera System further aids manoeuvrability, while Lane Keep Assist, where the car wans the driver if he or she strays out of lane, and Traffic Sign Recognition add an extra level of convenience.

Finally, HSE Dynamic LUX also sees a wind deflector added to the rear of the cabin, which reduces buffeting when driving at speed with the roof lowered, as well as a neat ski hatch that allows longer items to poke through the boot between the rear seats.

The 3-years/unlimited mileage warranty will be a welcome addition to many but it's almost expected on a car that costs the best part of £50,000 in its most basic form. Land Rover also offers protection on its paintwork for the life of the warranty, including an anti-corrosion warranty for those who are thinking of taking their Evoque wading.

Land Rovers have got a poor reputation for reliability and the Evoque range was only ranked mid-table for reliability in the 2016 Auto Express Driver Power customer satisfaction survey.

There are few used Range Rover Evoque Convertibles available, as the car was only recently launched. Those that do come onto the market are not expected to be cheap because demand for the car is likely to keep prices high.
Analysts from CAP, an automotive data company, predict that the Evoque Convertible will still be worth more than half of its brand new list price after three years and 30,000 miles, making it one of the best cars on sale for keeping its value
