Is a used Vauxhall Mokka a good buy?
The Vauxhall Mokka is a small SUV that’s designed for family life. Don’t confuse it with the old Vauxhall Mokka X - this is a totally new model, but that doesn’t mean you can’t find a great deal on a used Vauxhall Mokka here on BuyaCar.
Alternatives to the Mokka that are a similar size and price include the Ford Puma and Peugeot 2008. Indeed, the Peugeot shares many parts with the Mokka, including its engine range.
There’s also an electric version of the Vauxhall Mokka called the Vauxhall Mokka-e. As this is a separate model, we won’t cover it here, but it could be worth considering if you only do relatively short trips. The Vauxhall Mokka-e is more expensive to buy, but you'll save money on fuel
The new Vauxhall Mokka is smarter-looking than before and also better to drive. The switch to engines from the Peugeot 2008 range means that it’s quiet, punchy and more enjoyable to drive than before, plus it’s comfortable around town.

Which used Vauxhall Mokka should you buy?
You could consider the 1.2-litre petrol version if you do a mix of driving, including on the motorway and in town for example, as it’s a good all-rounder.
However, if you tend to do a lot of motorway miles, the 1.5-litre diesel engine might be a more economical choice. There are manual and automatic gearbox choices available, too.
The Mokka is reasonably practical. There’s lots of room in the front of the cabin and the 350-litre boot is pretty good as well. However, the rear seats can be cramped for adults and a Renault Captur has more boot space.
What used Vauxhall Mokka trim levels are available?
By far the most common Vauxhall Mokka you'll see on the used market is the Vauxhall Mokka SE and in many ways it's also the best buy giving you a well equipped small SUV at an affordable price.
Vauxhall Mokka SE
The Vauxhall Mokka SE is the base model and is only available with the 100hp 1.2-litre petrol and 110hp 1.5-litre diesel engines in manual form. It comes as standard with a seven-inch touchscreen media system with digital radio, Bluetooth, USB connection, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, so you can make use of your phone's features as a sat-nav or music player.
There’s also a seven-inch digital screen instead of traditional dials, 16-inch alloy wheels, autonomous emergency braking (AEB), air-conditioning, traffic sign recognition, cruise control, lane keeping assist, LED headlights, hill start assist and automatic headlights.
Vauxhall Mokka SRi
The Vauxhall Mokka SRi is available with more engine options, including the 130hp version of the 1.2-litre petrol and with an automatic gearbox.
Over and above what you get with the SE version, the SRi comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, a black roof, different exterior trim, tinted windows, extra USB ports in the rear, adaptive cruise control, heated seats and climate control.
It also comes with some added safety kit including a reversing camera for easier parking, rear parking sensors, lane positioning assist, and a collision alert to help prevent accidents by warning you of obstructions ahead at any speed.
There is a Vauxhall Mokka SRi Nav Premium version for around £1000 more when new, which adds sat-nav on a larger 10-inch media screen, with a larger 12-inch digital dial display, blind-spot alert, front parking sensors, keyless entry and a heated steering wheel.
Vauxhall Mokka Elite Nav
The Vauxhall Mokka Elite Nav range costs from around £23,000 when new, and is available with all the same engines and gearboxes as the SRi version.
It comes with sat-nav, as you would expect from the name, though it’s on the seven-inch display screen rather than the larger unit found in the SRi Nav Premium model.
Other standard equipment on this model includes an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, heated seats, a heated steering wheel, 17-inch alloy wheels, a black roof and spoiler, LED lights with high beam assist, adaptive cruise control, and climate control.
Safety equipment includes a driver drowsiness alert, autonomous emergency braking (AEB), forward collision alert, lane-keeping assist, lane positioning assist, a rear-view camera and hill start assist. There’s also a Vauxhall Mokka Elite Nav Premium (around £1000 more when new) which adds the larger 10-inch media system, a 12-inch digital dial display, blind-spot alert, keyless entry and front parking sensors.
Vauxhall Mokka Ultimate Nav
The Ultimate Nav model isn’t available with all engines - you can only get the automatic version of the 1.2-litre petrol in 130hp form, or a manual diesel model. It’s around £28,500 when new.
This version has the larger 10-inch media system as standard with all the tech you could want, plus the larger 12-inch digital dials. Other standard kit over the Elite Nav model above includes a wireless phone charger, 18-inch alloy wheels, suede seat trim, blind-spot alert, upgraded LED headlights with automatic functions, keyless entry, blind spot assist and electric folding door mirrors.
Vauxhall Mokka Launch Edition
Vauxhall initially offered a Launch Edition version of the Mokka that sat right at the top of the range for a limited time. This version is only available in the same engine configurations as the Ultimate Nav versions, and cost around £29,700 when new.
This version adds leather seat trim, a massage function on the driver’s seat and advanced parking assist, but that’s all.
