What are some of the best affordable cars to buy?
There are a number of manufacturers that sell very appealing yet affordable cars. The Citroen C3, Dacia Sandero, Fiat Panda, Hyundai i10, Kia Picanto and Toyota Aygo are all small hatchbacks that provide great value, often costing under £150 a month as nearly new cars, yet none scrimp on features such as air-conditioning, or phone connectivity, despite their value prices.
The best advice when shopping for an affordable car is to be flexible and not be too fixed on the idea of a single make or model. If you understand what you need from your next car, and set a realistic budget, you’ll be in the best position to find a car that meets your – and your bank account’s – needs.
How do I find the most affordable car for my budget?
The most important part of searching for a car is to set a realistic, affordable budget and stick to it. Buying a car can be overwhelming, but if you set a sensible budget and are realistic with your needs for your car, there are lots of great value cars to buy even with modest means. Plus, there is also the option of using a finance product such as PCP to help you buy either a new or used car, so you pay an initial deposit followed by smaller monthly amounts over the course of two to five years.
What finance options are there for affordable car buyers?
There are a number of finance options available, but most buyers use a Personal Contract Purchase, or PCP, deal to finance their car. PCPs are both flexible and affordable and with some time and research, often mean you can afford a great car at an affordable price. PCPs require you to pay a deposit, which can range from nothing at all to around 50% of the car’s value.
Then you’ll agree to the length of the contract, usually between two and five years and an annual mileage limit. At the end of the term, you can give the car back, pay off the remaining balance to own the car outright, or take out a new PCP deal on a different model.
