Save up to £6,350 on the Ford Focus range: big discounts on Zetec Edition, ST-Line and Titanium X cars

The Ford Focus is the most popular family car in Britain, thanks to its fuel economy, comfortable ride and agile cornering, which helps to make it more entertaining to drive than most alternatives.

The Focus has been upgraded since it first went on sale in 2011, so it still offers up-to-date technology, even if it's not quite at the cutting edge when it comes to space and interior design. But this does mean that you can make some enormous savings on the car, before a brand new version arrives next year.

In some cases, those discounts add up to more than £6,000, whether you're buying on cash or taking advantage of the finance offers, which include 0% interest in many cases.

The Focus range begins with Style trim, offering air conditioning a digital radio and Bluetooth for connecting your phone wirelessly. But you might find that the discounts available make better-equipped cars affordable too: a Zetec Edition with sat-nav and rear parking sensors starts at less than £14,500.

A step above the entry-level Ford Focus Style, the Ford Zetec Edition has everything that many drivers would want, including parking sensors, sat-nav and a heated front windscreen that's perfect for rapid defrosting on icy mornings,

The cheapest version of the car is powered by Ford’s small and efficient 1-litre turbocharged petrol engine. The turbo boosts the car’s performance so it feels much faster but fuel economy remains reasonable, although you'll have to use the accelerator gently if you want to get anywhere near the car's unrealistic official economy figure of more than 60mpg.

As with all of the Focus models on this page, 0% finance is an option - on top of this car's £5,116 discount.

The ST-Line version of the Focus is meant to be the sporty one, with large alloy wheels, an exterior bodykit that makes the car appear closer to the road, and sports suspension, which reduces the amount that it leans in corners (not that the other versions lean that much).

It's no sportscar when fitted with the 1.5 litre diesel engine, but it's powerful enough for reasonably nippy performance and fuel economy of more than 50mpg in real-world driving. Faster petrol-powered ST-Line cars are available too.

Opt for the automatic version and you'll also have paddles on the steering wheel that allow you to move out of automatic mode and change gear yourself.

For long-distance journeys in comfort, this is the best Ford Focus for the job. A Powershift automatic gearbox and cruise control help to reduce the stress of driving, while the powerful diesel engine cruises along smoothly and quietly, returning around 45mpg in real-world driving.

Titanium specification includes dual-zone climate control, automatic headlights and rain-sensitive windscreen wipers, as well as Active City Stop, an automatic emergency braking system that can prevent accidents.

The saving of more than £6,000 represents more than a quarter of the manufacturer's price, with 0% finance available too.

The price of this top-of-the-range Ford Focus has been cut from the (admittedly high) figure of more than £24,000 to just over £18,000. This buys you a part-leather interior, with Ford's full range of parking features, which can take control of the steering to guide the car into a tight space. You can watch progress through the rear-view camera.

Heated seats, a motorised driver's seat and mood lighting make the Focus feel a bit more special too. On top of this is the powerful 1.5-litre EcoBoost engine with 182 horsepower, which will zip from 0-62mph in 8.6 seconds, which is fast for a family hatchback. Diesel and automatic versions are available too.
