Best supercars 2024

Whether you’re window shopping or dreaming big for your next car, here are some of the best supercars you can find on sale now

By Gavin Braithwaite-Smith

Supercars are rare, high-performance machines that offer serious power and often a hefty amount of luxury, too. While they're often some of the most expensive cars on the road, with many cars from super-desirable brands such as Ferrari and Lamborghini often going up in value not down as most used cars do, you can still find extremely exciting and very desirable supercars for less than you might think.

Consider that all new cars from 2030 onwards are likely to be electric and time is running out to get your hands on this dying breed of petrol-powered monster. These are the kind of cars you’ll see on bedroom wall posters. Fantastical cars with flamboyant styling, insane levels of performance and questionable practicality. Lamborghini, Ferrari and McLaren are three names that spring to mind, as each brand has produced its fair share of high-octane supercars.

At BuyaCar, we tend to deal in super cars, rather than supercars. We take pride in offering cars that are affordable and fit for purpose; vehicles that can be ordered online and delivered to your door with the minimum of hassle. However, as the song from the musical South Pacific says, ‘if you don’t have a dream, how you gonna have a dream come true?’

So whether you’re window shopping or pushing the boat out with a lottery win or even a huge work bonus, here are eight supercars that you can order on BuyaCar and have delivered to your door. We may have bent the rules a little with our definition of supercars, but we guarantee these cars will put a smile on your face - even if one or two aren't quite as exotic as your typical supercar.

1. Porsche 911

Used deals Limited stock

When does a sports car become a supercar? On the one hand, the Porsche 911 is a relatively affordable and reasonably practical sports car, especially if you opt for one of the Carrera models. On the other hand, it’s a rabid supercar with the performance to keep up with the world’s most extreme supercars.

Take the 911 Turbo S, which in its current form produces a hefty 650hp from a six-cylinder, twin-turbocharged engine - enough to complete the 0-62mph sprint in an incredibly fast 2.7 seconds, while being capable of a top speed of 205mph. Even the ‘entry-level’ Carrera can keep up with most Ferrari and Lamborghini models from just a few years back.

There are dozens of Porsche 911 models to choose from on BuyaCar, with Carrera and Carrera S models being more affordable than you might think and giving you the supercar look for less. Fancy feeling the wind in your hair? Try a 911 Cabriolet and head for the hills.

2. Aston Martin Vantage

Used deals Limited stock

We’ve capped the budget at £100,000, which is why you won’t find seriously super Ferrari or Lamborghini models on our list of the best supercars. But that doesn’t mean you can’t channel your inner 007 by taking to the wheel of an Aston Martin. A DB11 or DB9 could be within budget, but we’ve opted for the Aston Martin Vantage.

Amazingly, you can get a 2016 or 2017 Vantage for less than the price of a new Porsche 911 - and have enough cash left over for a new Ford Fiesta. That means you can live the supercar dream at the weekend, with the use of a cracking supermini for the days in between.

The V8 Vantage is powered by a mighty 4.7-litre V8 engine, which is a welcome tonic to the modern breed of turbocharged supercars with watered down engines that sacrifice ultimate excitement in the name of reduced emissions and lower sound levels. Manual and 'Sportshift' automatic transmissions are available, with the latter featuring steering wheel paddles for race-style gear changes.

3. Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio

Used deals Limited stock

Remember what we said about cheating? Here is a saloon car which rivals upmarket cars like the BMW 3 Series and Mercedes C-Class. The Alfa Romeo Giulia has four doors, rear seats and a large boot, so what’s it doing on a list of supercars?

Well, we like to look at the Giulia Quadrifoglio (that’s Italian for ‘four-leaf clover') as a four-door Ferrari. Power is sourced from a Ferrari-derived 2.9-litre V6 engine, which sends 510hp to the rear wheels, which makes it seriously quick and more exciting to drive than you'd ever expect a saloon to be.

The performance figures wouldn’t look out of place on the spec sheet for a supercar. Top speed: 191mph; 0-62mph in just 3.9 seconds. Even at £60,000, it’s a new car bargain, but go used and you should be able to find one for far less than that.

4. Porsche Panamera

Used deals Limited stock

Another Porsche, this time in the shape of the four-door Panamera. Sure, many supercar purists will bemoan the inclusion of another big four-door car, but few cars are as adept at blending the luxury of a saloon car with the performance of a sports car as this.

Not convinced? Some versions boast a top speed knocking on the door of 200mph, with the acceleration to match a Porsche 911. You can even opt for a plug-in hybrid model, which offers enough electric range to handle a typical daily commute. Regular charging and use of the battery could deliver fuel economy in the region of 100mpg.

One of the problems associated with buying a new Porsche Panamera is the high price; you’ll need at least £70,000 for the ‘entry-level’ model. Fear not, because BuyaCar prices start from around half that figure, so you can get a used Panamera for less than the price of a top-of-the-range Nissan Qashqai.

5. Mercedes-AMG GT

Used deals Limited stock

The Mercedes-AMG GT bridges the gap between sports cars like the Jaguar F-Type and supercars built by Lamborghini and Ferrari. Launched in 2014, the GT replaced the SLS supercar and was designed to take on the Porsche 911.

It does that with typically good Germanic build quality, a fabulous 4.0-litre V8 engine and sublime rear-wheel-drive handling. A used Mercedes SLS will cost the thick end of £125,000, but a GT could cost half that. Where do we sign?

In ‘standard’ guise, the GT’s V8 engine produces 476hp to deliver a 0-62mph time of 4.0 seconds. Want to go quicker? The 510hp GT S will complete the sprint in just 3.8 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 193mph. There’s even a 585hp GT R, if you fancy seeing what it’s like to drive an official F1 safety car.

6. Ford Mustang

Used deals from £25,498
Monthly finance from £634.35*

What costs less than £30,000 second-hand but can turn as many heads as a six-figure supercar - especially if you choose one in a zany colour? It’s the Ford Mustang, which might not be a supercar in the truest sense, but it’ll raise as many smiles as any exotic car you care to mention.

The current Mustang, introduced in 2015, is the first to be offered in Britain with the steering wheel on the right-hand side. You can choose from coupe (Fastback) and convertible versions, along with a choice of 5.0-litre V8 and 2.3-litre petrol engines.

For maximum theatre, you need the V8 GT, which sounds amazing with its deep engine note. It might lack the precision and poise of a sports car, but the Mustang is all about the experience - just like a supercar. Unlike Mustangs of old, it handles corners very well, and you’ll be won over by the straight-line performance and glorious soundtrack. Yee-haw!

7. Bentley Continental GTC

Used deals Limited stock

If you’re prepared to push the budget beyond £100,000 - what’s an extra £5,000 or so when you’re buying a supercar? - you can get comfortable behind the wheel of a Bentley Continental GTC.

In W12 6.0-litre turbocharged guise, the Continental GTC Speed is one of the world’s fastest four-seat convertibles, with a top speed of 203mph. Not that you need the range-topping W12 engine, because the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 S is a fantastic alternative.

You get a fantastic soundtrack from the V8 engine, especially with the roof down, while the performance isn’t too far behind the W12. As a bonus, you get lower running costs, a more affordable purchase price and a fabulous folding roof. Your children will thank you for buying a convertible supercar with a pair of rear seats.

8. McLaren 570

Used deals Limited stock

The McLaren 570 sits tantalisingly close to our £100,000 budget, so we hope you’ll forgive us for including Woking’s finest car manufacturer. The 570 falls under McLaren’s ‘Sports Series’ banner, which means these are the most affordable cars in the range. Cars you might buy instead of a Porsche 911 or Mercedes-AMG GT.

You’re likely to find two models on BuyaCar: the 570S and the 570GT. The 570S is the more hardcore of the pair, but both are powered by the same 3.7-litre twin-turbo V8, which produces 570hp at 7,500rpm. Both will hit a top speed of 204mph, but the 570S is marginally quicker to 62mph.

You’re guaranteed to make a grand entrance (and exit!) wherever you go, thanks to a pair of 'dihedral' doors, but the addition of a panoramic roof means the 570GT is the more practical of the two cars. More headroom, more legroom and more luggage capacity combine with slightly softer suspension to make the 570GT more usable on a daily basis. There's no need for a dramatic supercar to be uncomfortable, after all.
