Best used 2015-present Land Rover Discovery Sport PCP finance deals

The popular entry-level Land Rover combines practicality and an upmarket image, and there are great deals to be found

If you’re looking for an upmarket off-roader with a seven-seat option, the popular Land Rover Discovery Sport is a practical choice. It’s been on sale since 2014 when it replaced the hugely successful Freelander range as the most affordable Land Rover. An update in 2019 brought new engines and an upgraded interior.

It competes against a huge range of alternatives, including rivals such as the Audi Q5, BMW X3, Mercedes GLC, Porsche Macan and Volvo XC60 at the posh end, as well as less swanky models such as the Hyundai Santa Fe and Skoda Kodiaq. Used buyers may also be tempted by the Land Rover's more upmarket - and expensive - in-house stablemate, the Range Rover Evoque.

In spite of the wide range of rivals, there’s no doubt the characterful Discovery Sport has an appeal all of its own, which accounts for its popularity with new car drivers. That sales success is great news for anyone looking for used bargains, and here on BuyaCar we have hundreds of low mileage and well-presented Discovery Sport models to suit all budgets.

BuyaCar Discovery Sport prices start at less than £18,000, which should be just enough to get you into an early model. If you’re looking to take advantage of Discovery Sport finance deals, that means you could be in the driving seat for not much more than £250 per month with a Personal Contract Purchase (PCP) deal.

You’ll need closer to £30,000 for a newer facelifted example, which translates to an approximate PCP monthly payment of £425 if you can put down a 10% deposit.

Land Rover Discovery Sport deals

Whichever route you're looking at to park a Discovery Sport on your drive, there’s no doubt there are big savings to be had with nearly new or used models. You could be driving a nearly new SE model from just £500 per month with a £3,750 deposit on a 48-month PCP finance deal.

Whatever your budget, and whichever Discovery Sport model you choose, you can be sure that you’ll be driving one of the best SUVs in the business. The Discovery Sport is undeniably handsome with that solid Land Rover feel, and all versions feature well-equipped and upmarket cabins with plenty of the brand’s feel-good factor built-in.

There’s a broad range of petrol and diesel engines, and while the Discovery Sport is no sports car, it drives extremely well on the road with a quiet cabin and excellent ride comfort, making it an ideal choice for families. The third row of occasional seats is perfect for those times when you need to help out on the school run or give a lift to an extra friend or two, and when they’re folded away, the spacious boot will take everything you need to throw at it.

And best of all, the Discovery Sport is a Land Rover, so unlike many so-called SUVs that might look like off-roaders but offer no real four-wheel-drive ability, it really does boost ‘go-anywhere' capabilities. You may not be planning a trek through the Borneo jungle, but you should never get stuck in a field after Pony Club with a Discovery Sport.

Which Land Rover Discovery Sport deals are best for you?

If you’re looking for a seven-seater, it’s important to remember that Land Rover describes the extra pair of seats in the Discovery Sport as ‘occasional’. That means you can cram adults in the back at a pinch, but taller people won’t be able to endure the experience for long. Kids are a different matter though, and if that’s your intended use for the seats, you’ll be fine.

If you’re attracted to the Discovery Sport for its off-road ability, you may be surprised to find there’s a two-wheel-drive version available. It’s outsold many times over by the four-wheel-drive variants, but if you’re based in town or never venture off the tarmac the two-wheel-drive model could be a viable cheaper option - thanks to lower prices and improved fuel economy. Other mechanical options to look out for are the choice between six-speed manual and nine-speed automatic gearboxes, and a broad range of engine options.

Updated models from 2019 onwards are equipped with improved interiors and better tech, including a significantly upgraded touchscreen media system. The 2019 upgrade also saw the introduction of an R-Dynamic variant, which in spite of the name is essentially a cosmetic option. R-Dynamic versions have sportier-looking bumpers and sleeker trim, whereas the standard Discovery Sport has an arguably more subtle, off-roader look.

Best Land Rover Discovery Sport S deals

The current entry-level trim level is known simply as the Discovery Sport, but Land Rover has confusingly rejigged the lineup on a couple of occasions, and most used car shoppers looking at older cars will find their options start with the S model. However, you may also come across entry-level Pure trims, and as you would expect the specification varies depending on the age of the car you’re looking at.

There’s still an S in the lineup in 2021, and it comes with leather upholstery, 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights and animated LED rear indicators, twin-zone climate control, cruise control, traffic sign recognition and Land Rover’s 'Pivi Pro' media system. That makes it a step up from the standard Discovery Sport which runs on 17-inch alloys, has fabric upholstery and the standard 'Pivi' media set-up - though both get 3D surround parking cameras.

Best Land Rover Discovery Sport SE deals

The Discovery Sport SE is a popular variant, as it’s always been a step up from the bottom rung of ownership, with valuable extras on early cars including features such as heated seats and climate control. From 2016 to 2019 you needed the SE Tech model if you wanted standard-fit sat-nav on your car.

Nowadays, the SE trim looks even more lavish, with 20-inch alloy wheels, an interactive digital dashboard and 12-way electrically-adjustable seats on the list of goodies.

Best Land Rover Discovery Sport HSE deals

From launch, the top-spec HSE delivered luxuries such as upgraded leather upholstery and a panoramic sunroof, as well as a rear-view camera and a more potent sound system. If those weren’t luxuries enough, the HSE Luxury trim grade added heated and cooled front seats, a heated steering wheel and rear cabin air-conditioning, all of which have been rolled into the current HSE trim.

Look out also for a variety of so-called Discovery Sport editions, including the HSE Black which comes with a range of cosmetic tweaks, such as a gloss black roof and wheels for a mean and moody look.
