BuyaCar deals of the week

Want the absolute best value car for your money? Check out our top deals of the week that offer plenty of bang for your buck

Buying a brand new car has to be the most expensive way to change your wheels. If you don't fancy going for a used car, however, there is another, far better value way to get that new car smell and feel-good factor: pre-registered cars and new cars in stock.

Pre-registered cars, to all intents and purposes, are brand new, with less than 100 miles on the clock and being less than a year old. However, as they've been registered by a dealer - normally so the dealer can hit sales targets by selling the car to themselves - you are the second owner rather than the first.

In exchange for not being the first owner - and frankly, no one is going to know you're not, as pre-registered cars often still have the latest number plates - these effectively new cars come with the type of price you'd expect on a used car. So if you want a new car but like the idea of saving thousands, this could be the way to do it.

Alternatively, if you're on a tighter budget, or want even more car for your money, used cars can make even more sense. Yes, the car may not look like it's rolled straight out of the factory, but in exchange you can typically save yourself many thousands more - even compared with a pre-reg car.

Since modern cars are so well engineered, safe and long-lasting, even choosing a five-year old car with 50,000 miles should offer you many years of problem-free motoring. Below we've rounded up our selection of the best pre-reg and used deals on offer right now.

Keep reading to find the best deals on cars in stock that are available to order now for delivery to your door. Not only do you get to avoid new car dealer pricing but you also don't have to worry about the safety implications of travelling around the country going to showrooms following the coronavirus outbreak. In addition to home delivery, there's the option of contactless delivery with BuyaCar, for maximum safety.

Fiat 500 deals

Fancy something super stylish, relatively new and extremely affordable? It can be done. The Fiat 500 is all of these things, with surprisingly low prices for even nearly-new versions, as the car has been on sale for such a long time that there's plenty of choice for used car buyers and dealers have to offer attractive prices to make their cars stand out.

As a result, you can pick up a 2018 1.2 Lounge model that has covered well under 20,000 miles for just £7,799. That compares with a new price tag of around £14,000 for an equivalent model before this version of the 500 was phased out in 2020. Fear not if you have less to spend, though, as the sheer number of used 500s available means that there are a vast array of cheaper options, plus more powerful and better equipped models for those with more cash to splash.

NISSAN JUKE BUYERS' GUIDE

Mercedes E-Class Estate deals

Need an enormous boot, a really comfy ride and refinement levels to match a luxury car and have around £20,000 to spend? While a new Mercedes E-Class Estate that meets that description would cost you more than £40,000, you could get yourself a great second-hand model for barely half that.

We have a 2018 E220d Estate in sporty looking AMG Line trim with less than 18,000 miles on the clock for £22,359. Yes, it may be three years old, but it should last for many decades to come. Whether you need to cruise up and down hundreds of miles of motorway every week or fill the boot every weekend with flatpack furniture hauls or load the boot up for family road trips, an E-Class Estate should be more than up to the job.

Vauxhall Mokka deals

Vauxhall Mokka X front

New high-riding 'crossovers', like the Vauxhall Mokka X, don't come cheap - especially if you go for a high-specification model, choose one of the more powerful engines available or add an automatic gearbox. Go used, however, and you can get all of these features for barely half the price new with even a two-year old car that's covered well under 10,000 miles.

BuyaCar has an 8,400-mile 2019 Vauxhall Mokka X 1.4T in plush Elite form with an automatic gearbox for just £14,299 - despite it having cost around £27,000 new. That means that every mile the car has driven saves you around £1.50 on the new price. With such a low mileage you can expect the car to still feel practically new, too.

FORD FIESTA BUYERS' GUIDE

Hyundai i800 deals

If you need space for lots of passengers - and we mean lots of space - in your next car, you can't beat a van-based people carrier. While some standard seven-seat cars include tiny rearmost seats that even claustrophobic children will object to sitting in, most van-based models have plenty of room for seven or more adults. They can also be staggeringly good value second-hand.

BuyaCar has a two-year old Hyundai i800 2.5 CRDi SE Nav model that has covered just 8,000 miles for a mere £17,299 - saving you around £11,000 compared with what it cost new. Better still, this i800 doesn't just have seven seats, there's room for eight passengers.
