Want the absolute best value car for your money? Check out our used car deals of the week that offer plenty of bang for your buck

If you you're looking for a new car, buying a brand new one has to be one of the most expensive ways to go about it. If you don't fancy going for a used car, however, there is another, far better value way to get that new car smell and feel-good factor of driving the very latest model: pre-registered cars and new cars in stock.

Pre-registered cars, to all intents and purposes, are brand new, with fewer than 100 miles on the clock and being less than a year old. However, because they've been registered by a dealer - normally so the dealer can hit sales targets by selling the car to themselves - you are the second owner rather than the first.

In exchange for not being the first owner - even though no one except you is going to know - these effectively new cars come with some pretty substantial discounts. So if you want a new car but you like the idea of saving thousands, this could be the way to do it.

Alternatively, if you're on a tighter budget, or want even more car for your money, used cars can make even more sense - you can also check out some of our best deals on 2020 cars. Yes, the car may not look like it's rolled straight out of the factory, but in exchange you can typically save yourself many thousands more - even compared with a pre-reg car. You can also choose to buy your next car at a specific time of year to make the most of seasonal changes in car prices.

Since modern cars are so well-engineered, safe and long-lasting, even choosing a five-year-old car that has covered 50,000 miles should offer you many years of problem-free motoring. Below we've rounded up our selection of the best pre-reg and used deals on offer right now.

Keep reading to find the best deals on cars in stock that are available to order now for delivery to your door. Not only do you get to avoid new car dealer pricing but you also don't have to worry about the safety implications of travelling around the country going to showrooms following the coronavirus outbreak.

Land Rover Discovery Sport deals

Used deals from £17,500

Land Rover Discovery Sport 2.0 TD4 HSE Black automatic201848,000£28,500

Seven-seater SUVs can be expensive to buy and too large for most daily needs. The Land Rover Discovery Sport is small enough to be easy to park, with space for six additional passengers. Space in the third row of seats is limited, making them best used by children for shorter journeys.

We've picked the 180hp 2.0-litre diesel engine which is powerful enough to carry seven people, while still returning around 40mpg. The four-wheel-drive system is capable, too, however drivers looking for the ultimate off-road machine may want to consider the larger and even more capable Discovery or Defender models. The model we have for sale on BuyaCar is well appointed with a power tailgate with gesture control, dual-zone climate control, and keyless entry.

If you're willing to spend a fair chunk more cash, the latest versions use mild hybrid technology to boost efficiency. The 300hp plug-in hybrid model, which uses a 1.5-litre petrol engine, costs from over £50,000 but should be significantly cheaper to run if you have access to a charging point.

Ford Fiesta deals

Used deals from £8,500

Ford Fiesta 1.0 EcoBoost 125 Titanium X 5dr201915,011£14,996

The Ford Fiesta has long been one of the UK's best-selling new cars. You may wonder why this is important if you're looking to get a used car, but you benefit from this too, since you should have more choice of Ford Fiestas than many other models, since so many have been sold. This means you can be picky and look for the very best model that completely suits your needs.

A new version may cost nearly £18,000 (or more than £20,000 in Titanium spec), but we have a three-year old high-spec Titanium X version with the powerful 125hp version of the 1.0-litre turbocharged 'EcoBoost' petrol engine for £14,996 - saving you around £7,000. This Fiesta has covered a touch over 15,000 miles, making it a great low-mileage example.

This Titanium X version comes with an eight-inch 'Sync3' touchscreen media system, interior ambient lighting, heated seats in the front, a heated windscreen, keyless entry and push-button start, but if you're looking to spend less money, even basic Zetec models come with automatic headlights, a heated windscreen, Bluetooth and digital radio. On the other end of the scale, thrill seekers should check out the Fiesta ST hot hatch, capable of 0-62mph in 6.5 seconds.

Nissan Juke deals

Used deals from £17,000

Nissan Juke 1.0 DiG-T N-Connecta202010,000£18,000

The Nissan Juke is a small crossover which is easy to drive and stands out from the crowd with its striking looks. Thanks to its raised SUV-style driving position, the Juke sells well new, meaning there's plenty of choice for used models.

As a result, it's a very affordable prospect as a second-hand car. Despite a list price of more than £24,000 for a new equivalent, you can get your hands on a well-equipped Juke 1.0 DiG-T N-Connecta for just £18,000, for a 2020 model that has covered just 10,000 miles (the equivalent of just 5,000 miles per year). That's a healthy 25% saving of £6,000.

N-Connecta models get TomTom sat-nav, keyless entry, an electronic handbrake, climate control and a reversing camera, though it's well worth scouting out a top-spec Tekna or Tekna+ model for the upgraded Bose sound system if you love music. This generation of Juke comes with a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine and front-wheel drive, and we've picked the model with a six-speed manual gearbox, however there are smooth-shifting seven-speed automatics if that's more your style.

Skoda Kamiq deals

Used deals from £16,590

ModelModel yearMileagePrice
Skoda Kamiq 1.5 TSI SE L20217,911£22,500

Drivers looking for a high-up position with a clearer view of the road may not want a large seven-seater SUV. This one-year-old Skoda Kamiq represents a healthy saving against the price of a new equivalent without the lengthy wait that many customers are experiencing for brand new cars.

Every version comes with alloy wheels, a touchscreen media system with wireless Apple CarPlay, rear parking sensors, air-conditioning and cruise control. We've picked out this mid-spec SE L version for its balance of equipment and affordability, as it includes an upgraded, larger touchscreen media system with voice control, and a digital driver's display.

It's common to find 95hp and 110hp versions of Skoda's 1.0-litre petrol engine, but these lack any real power compared with the 150hp 1.5-litre petrol engine in this model. Thanks to some clever tech under the bonnet, the 1.5-litre engine will likely be just as efficient in the real world, with official figures suggesting around 50mpg. Drivers looking to cover long distances may be disapointed at the lack of diesel engines on offer.
