Lease 4x4

Lower monthly payments for a rugged motor: the best deals for leasing a 4x4

Apr 25, 2019

Leasing usually offers the lowest monthly repayments for brand new cars. So if you're looking to get a new 4x4, then leasing could be the most affordable option.

It's essentially a long-term rental agreement, which involves making monthly payments and then returning the car at the end.

But if you’re looking for more choice and greater flexibility, Personal Contract Purchase (PCP) finance is available for both new and used cars. As with leasing, you can return the car at the end and walk away but PCP also guarantees the option to buy your car at the end of the agreement.

What is 4x4?

A 4x4 vehicle is a car fitted with four-wheel drive, sending the engine’s power to drive the front and back wheels. This increases grip when accelerating, which is particularly useful in slippery conditions, such as in snow and ice, or when driving off road on mud, loose stones or sand.

Four wheel drive also comes in handy on steep slopes, where the extra grip allows you to use more power, as well as on extremely uneven surfaces where one or more wheels might be in the air; as long as one is touching the ground, four-wheel drive should allow the car to move forwards or backwards.

Modern cars with a tall and rugged design are often called 4x4s or sport utility vehicles (SUVs), even though they don’t have four-wheel drive. Their high driving position and boxy shape make them practical for families, who may not need the capability of a four-wheel drive car.

Be aware that not all of the vehicles listed below necessarily have four-wheel drive. You can search for those that do by clicking the button below.

4x4s for under £150 per month

Around £5 per day can pay for a sturdy used SUV, although a large number of these won’t have four wheel drive. There are currently 47 4x4s available on BuyaCar for less than £150 per month on finance.

Prices start at £108 per month for the Dacia Duster 1.5 dCi Ambiance (s/s) 5dr Hatchback diesel estate shown above.

4x4s for under £200 per month

A budget of £200 per month brings relatively recent SUVs, including some that are only two years old, within range. Again, many of these won't have four wheel drive. There's plenty of choice too, with £150 and £200 per month.

The cheapest model available at the moment is the KIA SPORTAGE 1.6 GDi 1 5dr estate shown above which costs from £150 with finance.

4x4s for under £300 per month

Spending up to £300 per month on a 4x4 opens the door to some nearly-new models, as well as plenty of well-equipped family-sized SUVs. There are Audis, land Rovers and Volvos among the 1969 4x4s on BuyaCar in this price range.

At the lower end of this budget, you could have a Volkswagen Tiguan 2.0 TDi BlueMotion Tech Match 5dr diesel estate shown above which is priced from £200 with finance.

4x4s for under £500 per month

If you have the budget to spend £400 on an SUV, then this brings a Hyundai Santa Fe 2.2 CRDi Blue Drive Premium 5dr [7 Seats] Diesel Estate into range, as well as a large selection of 4x4s from Mercedes, Audi, BMW and Land Rover among the 1969 models available for this budget.

There are seven-seat models and hundreds with four-wheel drive, including many highly capable off-roaders.
